Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's women's soccer team has
announced its schedule for the upcoming 2013 Fall season,
highlighted by ten home matches including home dates versus fellow
Big South members Winthrop, High Point, and Liberty.
After an exhibition match at USC Upstate, GWU will open its
regular season slate at home versus North Florida on August 23 in a
7:00 p.m. match. Following its season opener against the Ospreys,
the Runnin' Bulldogs play at Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on August 27
prior to participating at South Carolina State Tournament August
30-September 1.
GWU hosts Wofford on September 8 for a 2:00 p.m. match before
hosting the Under Armour Border Classic September 13-15, where the
Runnin' Bulldogs play USC Upstate (Sep. 13, 7:00 p.m.) and
Chattanooga (Sep. 15, 3:00 p.m.).
GWU travels to the state of Alabama to face Troy on September 20
in a match scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start time in the Runnin'
Bulldogs' final non-conference game before entering into the Big
South portion of its 2013 schedule.
Opening Big South play for the Runnin' Bulldogs in 2013 will be
match versus Winthrop and High Point, both scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
start times. GWU hosts the Eagles on September 25 before welcoming
the Panthers for a September 28 tilt at Greene-Harbison Field.
Gardner-Webb follows those two home matches with consecutive
road contests against Coastal Carolina, Campbell, and VMI. GWU
faces the Chanticleers on October 2 at 7:00 p.m. in Conway, S.C.,
the Fighting Camels on October 5 at 7:00 p.m. in Buies Creek N.C.,
and the Keydets on October 9 at 4:00 p.m. in Lexington, Va.
The Runnin' Bulldogs host fellow Big South member Longwood on
October 12 for a 2:00 p.m. match and travel to Radford in hopes of
avenging last year's narrow defeat. GWU's match against the
Highlanders is scheduled for October 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Radford,
Va.
Against Liberty on October 19, GWU will look to hold the Flames'
in check once again, having given up only one goal in the teams'
past two meetings. The match, scheduled for 7:00 p.m., will be
followed by another home match for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as the
squad hosts Presbyterian October 23 at 7:00 p.m.
Gardner-Webb travels to play Charleston Southern on October 26
at 11:00 a.m. before closing the regular season at home against UNC
Asheville in what figures to be another electric contest between
the two teams. The Runnin' Bulldogs won in double overtime, 4-3,
the last time the two teams met in Boiling Springs.
The nineteen match schedule features a four-match increase in
home dates for the Runnin' Bulldog faithful as Gardner-Webb looks
to contend among the top tier of the Big South Conference in the
upcoming season.
