GWU Track & Field Set to Compete at the Third Annual Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, S.C.

Boiling Springs, N.C. - Two weeks removed from its 2013 Big South Outdoor Championship performance, Gardner-Webb track & field is set to compete at the Bob Pollock Invitational, hosted by Clemson University May 3-4.
The Runnin' Bulldogs' Outdoor season continues this weekend with four student-athletes slated to compete in Clemson, S.C. during the Friday-Saturday meet.
Junior Kristen Hurley (Columbia, Conn.) is scheduled to compete in both the women's long jump and 200 m dash. Both of Hurley's events will take place on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (long jump) and 3:30 p.m. (200 meters).
Freshman Alex Young starts a busy weekend on Friday with the men's hammer throw (4:00 p.m.), an event he won two weeks ago at the Big South Outdoor Championship meet. Young (LaVergne, Tenn.), the current school record holder in the men's shot put, will compete in that event Saturday morning (11:00 a.m.) as well as in the discus throw (12:30 p.m.).
Fellow thrower A.J. White (Hurricane, W.Va.) will also compete in the discus throw in Clemson, S.C. this weekend. The freshman turned in a personal best mark to finish in sixth place in the event at the Conference Championship meet this Outdoor season.
Fellow freshman Sarah Perkins (Gorham, Maine) will join Hurley in running the 200 m dash on Saturday and will also run the 100 m hurdles on Saturday (12:30 p.m.). Perkins turned in a personal best 1:01.75 to place fifth in the 400 m hurdles at Big South Outdoor Championships, recording a U.S. Junior National Championship qualifying time in the process.
