July 30, 2013 | Women's Basketball
Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team will host 15 home games as part of its 2013-14 regular season schedule that was released on Tuesday, July 30th, by head coach Rick Reeves and the Gardner-Webb Athletics Department.
A total of 10 of the Runnin' Bulldogs' 15 home games will come in Big South Conference play, while Gardner-Webb's first four games of the season will come at home in Paul Porter Arena.
"We are always excited to have the chance to continue to play our regional non-conference rivals such as Davidson, Appalachian State, UNC Greensboro, North Carolina Central, Wofford and Kennesaw State," Reeves stated. "On top of those regional non-conference games, we will also play in a very strong tournament in Dayton, Ohio prior to the Christmas Break, against teams such as Wright State, Bradley and Lipscomb. Overall we hope that our very challenging non-conference schedule will prepare us for our tough Big South Conference games, which this season will start in early December with games at Coastal Carolina and Presbyterian."
GWU will tip-off its 2013-14 slate with four straight home games, all against regional foes, over a two-week span to start the month of November.
Coach Reeves' squad will open up its 2013-14 season on Friday night, November 8th, against the Montreat College Cavaliers at 7 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will then remain at home the following week to host UNC Greensboro on Monday, November 11th, and Kennesaw State three days later on Thursday, November 14th, with both contests set for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
Gardner-Webb will then wrap up its four-game season opening home stand on Tuesday, November 19th, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers at 5:30 p.m. as part of a basketball doubleheader with the men's basketball team in Paul Porter Arena.
The next four games will all come on the road for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as Gardner-Webb will wrap up the month of November with non-conference road contests at North Carolina Central, on November 25th, and at Davidson on November 30th.
GWU will open up its 2013-14 Big South Conference slate early again this season, as the Runnin' Bulldogs are slated for back-to-back conference tilts on the road at Coastal Carolina on December 5th and at Presbyterian College on December 7th.
Coach Reeves' squad will then return home and step back out of conference play on Saturday, December 14th, to welcome the Wofford College Terriers to Boiling Springs, N.C. for its only home game throughout the month of December. Tip-off is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start time and will be game one of a doubleheader with the men's team.
Gardner-Webb will then head to Dayton, Ohio to compete at the Wright State Invitational presented by Holiday Inn, where the Runnin' Bulldogs will take on the host in Wright State on December 20th and then will face off with either Bradley or Lipscomb on December 21st to wrap up the two-day event.
After the Christmas Break, the Runnin' Bulldogs jump straight into Big South Conference play with a road tilt at UNC Asheville on December 28th, before kicking off the 2014 calendar year with back-to-back home contests versus conference foes Radford and Winthrop.
The Radford Highlanders will come to town on Thursday, January 2nd, for a 7 p.m. Big South Conference match up, while two days later, on Saturday, January 4th, Gardner-Webb will play host to the Winthrop Eagles for a 3 p.m. afternoon contest.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will then return to the road, this time making a swing through Virginia with road contests at Liberty and at Longwood on January 9th and 11th, respectively, before returning home to host in-state conference foes Campbell and High Point the following weekend. GWU will take on Campbell on Thursday, January 16th, at 7 p.m. and then will host High Point on Saturday, January 18th, at 3 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena.
After heading south to take on Charleston Southern in Charleston, S.C. on January 23rd, the Runnin' Bulldogs will once again return home for Big South games versus Presbyterian on Saturday, January 25th, at 4:30 p.m. and UNC Asheville the following week, Saturday, February 1st, at 3 p.m.
The following weekend, February 6th and 8th, the Runnin' Bulldogs will return contests at Radford and Winthrop, respectively, prior to hosting both Longwood and Liberty to Paul Porter Arena in mid-February. GWU will host the Lancers of Longwood on Thursday, February 13th, at 7 p.m. and then will turn around to do battle with the Liberty Lady Flames on Saturday, February 15th, at 3 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena.
Gardner-Webb will then wrap up its 2013-14 regular season road slate with back-to-back conference games at High Point and Campbell on February 20th and 22nd, respectively, before finishing out the regular season with home contests versus Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m. on Thursday night, February 27th, and against Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon, March 1st, at 3 p.m.
