
Gardner-Webb Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams Picked Tenth in Big South Preseason Polls

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's men's and women's cross country teams each came it at the tenth spot in their respective Big South Preseason Polls, the League announced today.
The women's poll was topped by reigning Conference champion Liberty (134 points, 4 first place votes). High Point (130 points, 4 first place votes), Coastal Carolina (128 points, 4 first place votes), and Winthrop (102 points) followed in the second, third and fourth spots in the women's preseason voting.
A tie between Campbell (85 points) and UNC Asheville (85 points) occupied the fifth spot in the poll, while VMI (78 points), Radford (65 points), and Charleston Southern (52 points) preceded the Runnin' Bulldogs (37 points) in the seventh, eighth, and ninth spots.
Longwood (26 points) and Presbyterian (14 points) rounded out the women's poll in the eleventh and twelfth positions.
The men's preseason voting was also topped by defending Big South champ Liberty, who received 144 points and all twelve first place votes. High Point (131 points), Campbell (111 points), and VMI (99 points) were voted to finish second, third, and fourth in the Conference, while Coastal Carolina (94 points) and UNC Asheville (85 points) were slated to finish in the fifth and sixth spots respectively.
Winthrop (83 points) and Radford (64 points) came in at the seventh and eighth slots in the poll, followed by Longwood (40 points) and GWU (39 points) at ninth and eleventh.
Charleston Southern (33 points) and Presbyterian (13 points) rounded out the men's poll in the eleventh and twelfth spots.
The cross country season opens up Aug. 30 with nine men's and women's teams in action. The Big South Men's and Women's Cross Country Conference Championships are slated for Saturday, Nov. 2, and will be hosted by VMI. The preseason polls appear below.
