Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb University had three athletic programs in women's cross country, women's golf and softball receive the 2012-13 Big South Team Sportsmanship Award for its specific sport, it was announced by the Big South Conference office on Thursday afternoon.

With the Runnin' Bulldogs' three different Team Sportsmanship Award winners, Gardner-Webb as a whole finished third overall for the Institutional Sportsmanship Award in 2012-13 with a 27.18 percent overall.

Gardner-Webb finished behind VMI (35.22 percent), who was crowned the 2012-13 Institutional Sportsmanship Award Winner, and Liberty (34.74 percent).

The 2012-13 Team Sportsmanship Award is the fourth for the Gardner-Webb women's golf program and head coach Tee Burton, as the lady golfers also received the award in 2008-09, 2010-11 and 2011-12, while it marks the third time that the Runnin' Bulldogs softball team and head coach Tom Cole has won the conference sportsmanship award, having previously won it in both 2009-10 and 2010-11.

The 2012-13 sportsmanship award is the first for the Gardner-Webb women's cross country team and head coach Brian Baker.
