Runnin' Bulldogs Take 10th at Golfweek Program Challenge

Pawleys Island, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team improved its team scores each day, as the Runnin' Bulldogs took 10th-place overall at the Golfweek Program at hosted by Golfweek Magazine at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, S.C.
The GWU women's golf team posted rounds of 317, 307 and 305 to finish the three-day event with a combined team score of 929, +77, to finish in 10th-place overall.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished ahead of Valparaiso (971, +119) and IUPUI (1025, +173) for the tournament.
Sophomore Mary Katherine Donovan led the Runnin' Bulldogs with a three-round combined score of 230, +17, carding rounds of 80, 76 and 74, to finish in a tie for 32nd-place overall. Donovan posted five birdies over the 54-hole event.
In their first-ever intercollegiate tournament, freshmen Taylor Dodson, Sarah Bertram and Julia Henderson finished 38th, 42nd and 44th overall, respectively.
Dodson, who posted a GWU low round of 72, +1, on Sunday, shot rounds of 78 and 83 over the next two days of play to finish with a combined score of 233, +20.
Bertram registered rounds of 82, 75 and 77 to finish with a combined score of 234, +21, as she and Dodson both posted seven birdies overall for the event. Henderson, who finished four strokes behind Bertram, recorded five birdies and a combined score of 238, +25.
Senior Pilar Morgan rounded out the scores for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as the lone upperclassman on the team shot rounds of 83, 81 and 77 to finish in a tie for 46th-place overall with her combined score of 241, +28.
Fellow Big South Conference member Campbell picked up the first-place team finish with its combined team score of 862, +10, finishing 17 strokes ahead of Jacksonville State who finished in second-place overall with their combined score of 879, +27.
Campbell's Tahnia Ravnjak took medalist honors with her tournament low individual score of 211, -2 under par.
Gardner-Webb will return to action in two weeks, when the women's golf team will take part in the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate on September 23-24th in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
