Gardner-Webb Men's Golf Takes 13th at the 2013 Tar Heel Intercollegiate

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's golf team posted a 13th-place team finish over the weekend at the 2013 Tar Heel Intercollegiate hosted by the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill at the par 72, 7,242-yards UNC Finely Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. on September 14-15th.
Gardner-Webb posted rounds of 307, 305 and 304 to finish with a three-round combined team score of 916, +52, at the two-day event.
The Runnin' Bulldogs were led by junior Matt Yelverton who overcame a first round 77 on Saturday morning to shoot back-to-back rounds of 73 over the final two rounds of play to finish in a tie for 33rd-place overall with a combined score of 223, +7. Yelverton led the team and was tied for the third most pars with 37 over the 54-hole event.
Freshman Blake Maum, who was playing in his first-ever intercollegiate event for the Runnin' Bulldogs, carded rounds of 76, 76 and 80 to place in a tie at 63rd-place overall with his combined score of 232, +16.
Senior Steven Jones and redshirt-senior Daley Byles both finished in a tie at 72nd-place overall with their finals scores of 236, +20, while sophomore Clement Kurniawan turned in a 54-hole score of 238, +22, to finish in 74th-place overall.
Georgia Tech took first-place overall in the team standings with a 54-hole team score of 842, -22 under par, finishing 20 strokes ahead of North Carolina State who came in second-place with their team score of 862, -2 under par.
The Yellow Jackets took the top-three spots overall on the individual leaderboard with Seth Reeves medaling with his rounds of 69, 69 and 70 to shot a 54-hole score of 208, -8 under par.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action in just a little over a week, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will co-host the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate at the Myrtle Beach National Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on September 23-24th.
