Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will return to competition next week, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will take part in the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate hosted by High Point University in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on September 23-24th.
The tournament will be held at the par 72, 6,089 yards, Myrtle Beach National South Creek Course which was designed by Arnold Palmer.
This will mark the second tournament for the GWU lady golfers this season, as the Runnin' Bulldogs took 10th-place overall as a team at the Golfweek Program Challenge back on September 8-10th.
Head Coach Tee Burton's lineup will again have three freshmen in it in Taylor Dodson, Julia Henderson and Sarah Bertram, Sophomore Mary Katherine Donovan and the lone upperclassman in senior Pilar Morgan will complete the GWU lineup.
The three GWU freshmen will all be playing in only their second intercollegiate event, as all three played for the Runnin' Bulldogs at the Golfweek Program Challenge.
Dodson and Bertram finished with respective 54-hole scores of 233, +20, and 234, +21, to finish in 38th and 42nd-place, respectively, in their first-ever intercollegiate tournament two weeks ago. Henderson, who also saw the Golfweek Program Challenge as her first-ever intercollegiate tournament, carded a three-round score of 238, +25, to finish in 44th-place overall.
GWU's Donovan paced the Runnin' Bulldogs last time out with her 54-hole score of 230, +17, and 32nd-place finish, while Morgan finished in a tie at 46th-place overall with her combined score of 241, +28, at the Golfweek Program Challenge.
Gardner-Webb will also send sophomore Tessy Tuschen and freshman Courtney Yanch to the two-day event to compete as individuals.
Tuschen will be teeing-off in tournament play for the first time this year, as she competed in three tournaments as an individual last year, carding a low round 80 at the Highlander Invitational.
Yanch will be making her debut for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as the Barrie, Ontario, Canada native will be competing in her first-ever intercollegiate event.
The two-day event will go from Monday, September 23rd, to Tuesday, September 24th, with a practice round taking place on Sunday, September 22nd.
