
GWU's Kow Takes Second-Place Overall at the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - Gardner-Webb sophomore Elki Kow finished in a tie for second-place overall, as the Runnin' Bulldogs took fourth-place as a team at the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate hosted by Gardner-Webb University at the par 72, 6,866 yards Myrtle Beach National West Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Runnin' Bulldogs carded rounds of 291 and 292 to finish the 36-hole event in fourth-place overall with a team score of 583, +7, three strokes behind third-place finisher Presbyterian College (582, +6).
Kow, who played as an individual at the two-day event, carded two sub-par rounds of 71 and 70 to finish in a four-way tie for second-place overall with a 36-hole score of 141, -3 under par, one off the lead.
Freshman Vincent Blanchette, who also played as an individual, posted rounds of 73 and 69 to finish with a score of 142, -2 under par, and in sixth-place overall in his very first intercollegiate event.
GWU's Nick Browning, who was the third individual to play for the Runnin' Bulldogs, finished with rounds of 74 and 76 to post a combined score of 150, +6, and finish in a tie at 31st-place overall.
In regards to the team scoring, three Runnin' Bulldogs placed in a tie at 12th-place overall, as Clement Kurniawan, Daley Byles and Matt Yelverton all posted two-round combined scores of 145, +1. Kurniawan carded rounds of 75 and 70 for his 145, +1, while Byles was consistent overall with rounds of 73 and 72. Yelverton recorded rounds of 70 and 75 to post his two-day score.
Rounding out the scoring for the GWU was freshman Blake Maum and senior Steven Jones. Maum carded back-to-back rounds of 75 to finish in a tie at 31st-place with a two-day score of 150, +6, while Jones shot rounds of 73 and 78 to place in a tie at 34th-place overall with his score of 151, +7.
Southern Wesleyan won the team event, carding team rounds of 291 and 279 to finish with a team low score of 570, -6 under par. Appalachian State (571, -5 under par) took second-place overall, as the Mountaineers were led by medalist Casey Komline who took first-place overall with his 36-hole score of 140, -4 under par.
The All-Tournament Team, which consisted of the top-five individuals, consisted of Komline, Kow, Zachary Casto from Southern Wesleyan (141, -3), Olle Widegren of Coastal Carolina (141, -3) and Davis Parker of Presbyterian (141, -3).
The Runnin' Bulldogs will take a week off before returning to the links for a one-day event at The Patriot Intercollegiate hosted by High Point University on Saturday, October 5th, at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C.
