Gardner-Webb Women's Golf Takes Second-Place at the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - Gardner-Webb freshman Taylor Dodson finished in a tie for fourth-place overall to help lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to a second-place team finish at the Myrtle Beach National Intercollegiate hosted by High Point University at the par 72, 6,089 yards, Myrtle Beach National South Creek Course in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Runnin' Bulldogs posted team scores of 309 and 309 over the two-day, 36-hole event, to finish runner-up overall with a combined score of 618, +42. GWU finished just one stroke ahead of Winthrop (619, +43) and 26 strokes ahead of fellow Big South Conference member Radford (644, +68).
Dodson, who was playing in only her second intercollegiate tournament of her young career at GWU, paced the Runnin' Bulldogs with rounds of 74 and 76 to finish in a tie for fourth-place overall at 150, +6.
Returners Mary Katherine Donovan and Pilar Morgan finished in a tie for ninth-place and in a tie for 11th-place overall, respectively, as Donovan carded rounds of 73 and 82 to finish with a 155, +11, one stroke ahead of Morgan's combined score of 156, +12, with rounds of 81 and 75.
Right behind both Donovan and Morgan was freshman Sarah Bertram who registered rounds of 82 and 76 to finish in a tie for 14th-place overall with her 36-hole score of 158, +14.
Freshman Julia Henderson rounded out the scoring for Gardner-Webb, as she turned in rounds of 81 and 86 to finish the two-day event with a combined score of 167, +23, and in a tie at 29th-place overall.
Playing as individuals, Gardner-Webb sophomore Tessy Tuschen carded rounds of 81 and 89 to finish in a tie for 34th-place overall with her combined score of 170, +26, while freshman Courtney Yanch shot an 84 and 87 to finish in a tie at 36th-place overall with her combined score of 171, +27.
High Point took first-place team honors overall with a final team score of 602, +26, while High Point freshman Sarah Bae took first-place honors with a 36-hole score of 140, -4 under par.
The All-Tournament Team, which consisted of the top-five individuals, was Bae from High Point, Abby Driscoll of Presbyterian (148, +4), Jennifer Dilger of Winthrop (149, +5), Dodson of Gardner-Webb (150, +6) and Courtney Boe of Coastal Carolina (150, +6).
Gardner-Webb will return to the links in exactly one week, when the Runnin' Bulldogs will take part in the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic hosted by UNC Greensboro at the Starmount Forest Country Club on September 30th through October 1st in Greensboro, N.C.
