September 27, 2013 | Men's Basketball
BOILING SPRINGS - New head coach Tim Craft ran his Gardner-Webb men's basketball squad through its first full practice Monday morning, hitting the courts at 7:00 am sharp in Paul Porter Arena.
The Runnin' Bulldogs worked hard for two hours, the first of a 30-day practice window that leads up to the 2013-14 season opener on Friday, November 8, at Xavier.
Gardner-Webb returns three starters - forward Donta Harper (6-6, 210, Jr.), forward Jerome Hill (6-5, 215, So.) and point guard Tyler Strange (5-10, 185, Jr.) - from last season's 21-win group. That trio is joined by experienced newcomers Naji Hibert (6-6, 190, RSr.) and Josh Castellanos (6-1, 185, Gr.), along with veteran letter winners Isaiah Ivey (6-2, 190, So.), Mike Byron (6-10, 240, Sr.), Corey Hensley (6-8, 220, Jr.), Onzie Branch (6-6, 215, Sr.) and Jarvis Davis (6-0, 180, RJr.) to form a strong nucleus for another run at the Big South title this season.
The addition of freshmen post players Tyrell Nelson (6-7, 230, Fr.) and Donell Tuff (6-6, 210, Fr.), along with redshirt freshman forward Logan Stumpf (6-6, 190) adds bite to the GWU front court as well.
