Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's golf team will tee-off its 2013 fall season this Sunday, September 8th, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will compete at the Golfweek Program Challenge held the True Blue Golf Resort at Pawleys Island, S.C. from September 8-10th.
The lineup for head coach Tee Burton's squad will consist of five returners led by redshirt-senior Daley Byles, senior Steven Jones and junior Matt Yelverton, while sophomores Clement Kurniawan and Elki Kow will round out the Runnin' Bulldog lineup.
Returning for his final season at GWU, Byles is coming off a 2012-13 campaign in which had six top-25 finishes and recorded a stroke average of 75.94 overall.
Jones returns for his senior season after posting three top-12 finishes, including a third-place finish at the Davidson College Invitational, while Yelverton, who was named to the 2013 Big South All-Academic Team last season, registered seven top-25 finishes and led the Runnin' Bulldogs with a ninth-place finish at the 2013 Big South Men's Golf Championship last April.
Both Kurniawan and Kow return for their second season for Coach Burton, as each played in at least six tournaments for GWU last season. Kurniawan played in five tournaments last fall and recorded an overall stroke average of 77.26 on the year in seven total events, while Kow played six events in the 2013 spring season after joining the team in January.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are slated to play a practice round on Saturday afternoon and will then tee-off the first round of the three-day event on Sunday morning.
