Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will tee-off its 2013 fall season this Sunday, September 8th, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will compete at the Golfweek Program Challenge held the Caledonia Golf Course at Pawleys Island, S.C. from September 8-10th.
Head Coach Tee Burton will have a number of new faces in the lineup for the opening tournament, as outside of senior Pilar Morgan and sophomore Mary Katherine Donovan the other three Runnin' Bulldog golfers will be freshmen.
Morgan headlines the group as the most experience golfer on the roster in 2013-14, as the senior played in nine tournaments last season, posting three top-15 finishes overall, including a third-place finish at the GWU versus HPU Duals.
Donovan, one of only three returners on this year's squad for the Runnin' Bulldogs, had a stellar freshman season in 2012-13 in which she carded a low round 68 and a first-place finish in her first-ever intercollegiate tournament at the Terrier Intercollegiate in the fall. Donovan, who posted a stroke average of 79.86 on the season, tallied six top-25 finishes on the year.
The GWU lineup is rounded out by freshmen Julia Henderson, Taylor Dodson and Sarah Bertram who all will be making their Runnin' Bulldog and intercollegiate debuts on the links next week.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are slated to play a practice round on Saturday afternoon and will then tee-off the first round of the three-day event on Sunday morning.
