Freshman Tyler Craig Named Big South Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Gardner-Webb's Tyler Craig has been named the Big South Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the League announced today.
Craig, a freshman from Talking Rock, Ga., turned in the best freshman performance in Gardner-Webb school history as he cleared 16' 8.75" at the ETSU Invitational. His clearance ranked No. 1 this season on the Big South Performance list and is No. 3 all-time in the Big South annals.
Both Craig and sophomore thrower Alex Young (LaVergne, Tenn.) won individual events at the Niswonger Invitational this past weekend. Young won the men's shot put, making a splash alongside Craig's historic performance.
The pair leads the Big South in their respective events.
Also atop the Big South Conference is another Gardner-Webb freshman, Kayin Mujahid, who cleared 1.68 m in the women's high jump. That performance, which earned her 9th place at the Niswonger Invitational, ranks her first in the Big South thus far in the Indoor season.
Gardner-Webb track & field competes in a one-day event, the Tar Heel Open (Chapel Hill, N.C.) this Saturday, January 25, before traveling to compete at the JDL Invitational (Winston-Salem, N.C.), which lasts Friday, January 31 through Saturday, February 1.
