Gardner-Webb Drops 29-9 Decision To Campbell Thursday

SPRINGS, N.C. - Campbell picked up its third Southern Conference
win of the season Thursday night, topping Gardner-Webb 29-9 in Paul
Porter Arena.
Campbell (3-0, 3-0 SoCon) won the evening's first two bouts and closed out the match with wins in the final three weight classes to seal the win.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (6-12, 2-3 SoCon) fell into an early hole, as Campbell got an opening pin at 125 pounds from Tyler Walker (1:55). Drew Walker then pushed Campbell's lead to 10-0 with a major decision win at 133 pounds.
Gardner-Webb would rally with Ryan Mosley capturing a 7-3 win at 141 pounds and Tyler Ziegler following suit with a 6-3 decision at 149 - trimming the Camels' lead to 10-6.
Austin Trott won his 10th bout in a row with a 1-0 decision at 165 pounds over Paul Duggan, cutting the Camels lead to 13-9 - but Campbell captured a major decisions at 174 and 184 to stretch the team lead to 12 points (21-9) with only two bouts remaining.
Taylor McGiffen picked up a tech fall at 197 pounds to make the score 26-9 in favor of the Camels and Eloheim Palma picked up a decision at 285 for the final margin.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Tuesday, February 4 at Duke and will return home to host The Citadel on Friday, February 7 at 7:00 pm.
