Chauvin Earns Big South Player Of The Week Honors
October 13, 2014 | Women's Soccer
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Krista Chauvin (Seekonk, Mass. / UMass Dartmouth) has been named the Big South Conference Defender of the Week for the matches played October 6-12.
This is the third time this season that Chauvin has garnered defender of the week honors.
This past week, Chauvin played one of the best games of the season in goal for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as she recorded a season high 16 saves. Longwood seemed to be on the offensive attack pretty much the entire evening, as the Lancers fired 41 shots including 17 shots on goal, but could only manage one shot past Chauvin.
This is the second time this season that Chauvin has recorded double-digit saves in a match, as she recorded 12 saves in a scoreless draw at High Point.
"Krista had to come up big for us on Saturday and she was up to the challenge. I would like for her to not have to make as many saves, but it is nice to know she is there when she is called on, commented head coach Mike Varga. Krista would be the first to tell you that any recognition she gets is a tribute to how hard the players in front of her work. "
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Wednesday evening when it hosts Radford. Kickoff for Wednesday's match is set for 7:00 p.m. at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
