GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's golf team placed 15th overall at the 2014 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina University from October 13-14th at the par 72, 6088 yards, Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
The Runnin' Bulldogs posted rounds of 304, 320 and 316 to finish with a combined total score of 940, +76.
Sophomore Taylor Dodson set the mark for Gardner-Webb women's team over the two-day event finishing with rounds of 71, 81 and 78 totaling 230, +14 placing in a tie for 39th-place overall. Dodson led the Runnin' Bulldogs in par-5 scoring average for the two-day tournament with a 4.92, -1, average tied for seventh place overall at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate.
Finishing just four shots off the pace of Dodson was junior Mary Katherine Donovan who carded rounds of 80, 74 and 80 to have a combined total score of 234, +18 earning her a tie for 56th-place overall over the two-day event.
Sophomores Courtney Yanch and Sarah Bertram after 54-holes both ended up in a tie for 63rd-place overall. Yanch finished in that position with rounds of 76, 84 and 78 to finish with a score of 238, +22, she also led the Runnin' Bulldogs in birdies over the two days with 6 birdies overall, while Bertram shot her total score of 238 by carding rounds of 77, 81 and 80. Junior Tessy Tuschen rounded out the Gardner-Webb team shooting rounds of 87, 84 and 82 finishing with the combined total score of 253, +37 finishing in a tie for 91st-place overall.
Georgia Regents University Augusta took home the team championship, as the Jaguars carded rounds of 297, 291 and 288 to finish with the tournament team low score of 876, +12.
Jennifer Dilger of Winthrop University medaled, as she posted rounds of 69, 74 and 71 to have the low score of 214, -2 under par.
The Runnin' Bulldogs women's golf team will return to action next week when they will participate in the Wofford Women's Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford University at the Spartanburg Country Club in Spartanburg, N.C. October 20-21st.
