Gardner-Webb Tabbed Fourth In Preseason SoCon Wrestling Poll

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Gardner-Webb was picked to finish fourth in the Southern Conference's preseason wrestling poll, which was voted on by the league's eight head coaches.
The Runnin' Bulldogs found themselves six points back of third-place Appalachian State in the projections, and nine votes in front of fifth-place SIU-Edwardsville.
Redshirt freshman Chris Vassar (New Cumberland, Pa. / Cedar Cliff HS) earned preseason All-SoCon honors at 141 pounds and joins a strong core of returning starters for Gardner-Webb in 2014-2015.
Chattanooga was picked to win the league, followed by The Citadel. The Mocs garnered seven of the eight available first-place votes.
Gardner-Webb opens its season on Sunday, November 2 in Boone, N.C. GWU will battle Buffalo and Cumberland on the same day.
