CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Brandi Arey has been named the Big South Conference Defender of the Week for the matches played October 20-26. 

Arey totaled two goals and an assist in the Runnin' Bulldogs three games played last week. She helped lead Gardner-Webb to a 3-0 record, with victories over Presbyterian (2-1), Brevard (6-1), and Charleston Southern (2-1). 

Arey's two goals last week, were both game-winners and for the season she has three game-winning goals which leads the team and is tied for second in the Big South Conference. 

On the season, Arey has six goals and three assists for 15 points, all of which are career-highs for the sophomore. 

Gardner-Webb enters its regular-season finale on Tuesday afternoon at UNC Asheville on a three match win streak and has won victories in four of its last five matches.
