
Gardner-Webb Set To Host 2014 Big South Cross Country Championships

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's and women's cross country teams are set to host the 2014 Big South Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
This will be the first time that the Runnin' Bulldogs have hosted the Cross Country Championships. Earlier this season, Gardner-Webb hosted the Big South Championships preview meet, where High Point took first place in both the men's and women's team competion.
Individually, Amon Terer (Campbell) was the first runner to cross the finish line in the men's 8K race, and Letitia Saayman finished first in the women's 5K race.
Schedule of events
Saturday, November 1st:
8:15 AM – Course open
10:30 AM – Women's 5K Championship
11:30 AM – Men's 8K Championship
12:30 PM – Awards Ceremony
Attendance at this event will be free. All seating will be general admission.

From the north:
Take I-77 South to Charlotte. Then take I-85 South to Hwy 74 West (Exit 10-B Shelby/Kings Mountain) to Shelby. Continue on Hwy 74W to Hwy 150 approximately 15 miles (traffic light at McDonalds). Turn left. Follow Hwy 150 into Boiling Springs approximately 9-10 miles. Turn left at the traffic light (Hwy 150 turns left here) and follow Hwy 150 for approximately ½ mile. Pass Hardee's and then turn at the next right onto Stadium Drive at Bridges Gate.
From the east:
Follow I-85 South from Charlotte to Hwy 74 West (Exit 10-B Shelby/Kings Mountain) to Shelby. Continue on Hwy 74W to Hwy 150 approximately 15 miles (traffic light at McDonalds). Turn left. Follow Hwy 150 into Boiling Springs approximately 9-10 miles. Turn left at the traffic light (Hwy 150 turns left here) and follow Hwy 150 for approximately ½ mile. From the south:
Follow I-85 North to Gaffney, SC. Take exit 92. Turn left at the traffic light at the end of the exit. Continue over the I-85 bridge to the 2nd traffic light. Turn right onto Wilcox Avenue (at Newark One Electronics Plant). Continue on Wilcox Avenue to a four-way stop. Take a left onto Hwy 150 (you will see a sign directing you to Boiling Springs, NC). Follow Hwy 150 into Boiling Springs—approximately 12 miles to GWU. Turn left onto Stadium Drive (across from KFC/Taco Bell) at Bridges Gate.
From the west:
Follow I-40 East from Asheville to I-26 East. Exit onto Hwy 74 East from I-26. Follow Hwy 74 for approximately 30-35 miles. Pass through a blinking yellow light. At 1st traffic light after blinking yellow light, turn right onto Pleasant Ridge Church Rd. Continue on Pleasant Ridge Church Rd. to stop sign. Turn left onto McBrayer Homestead Rd. (becomes Main St.). Continue through Boiling Springs to traffic light. Go through traffic light (Gardner-Webb on right) and drive approximately ½ mile. Pass Hardee's and then turn right on Stadium Drive at Bridges Gate.
Parking Information
Team buses and vans are encouraged to use the large parking lot adjacent to the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center. Spectators will have access to all athletic parking adjacent to the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center. There will be no charge for parking accommodations.
Course Information
The first loop turns at the tennis courts and wraps the baseball stadium.
The second two loops run the full length of the course.
