Hooe, Chauvin, And Abee Named All-Conference

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Gardner-Webb University women's soccer players Shelby Hooe, Krista Chauvin, and Addison Abee earned All-Conference honors, announced the Big South conference office on Friday afternoon.
Hooe was named the Scholar Athlete of the year and garnered First Team honors. A chemistry major, Hooe excels both in the classroom and on the soccer field, as she sports a 3.91 GPA and this season set career-highs with eight goals and 20 points, and tied her career-high with four assists. The junior forward ranked fourth in the conference with 20 points and scored two game-winning goals on the season.
Hooe is the first Gardner-Webb student-athlete to be voted Big South Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Chauvin garnered Second Team All-Conference honors after posting a 7-7-2 record and 1.35 GAA. A graduate student and transfer from UMass-Dartmouth, Chauvin was second in the conference in total saves (67) and ranked third in saves per game (6.70), and shutouts (4). In just her one season as goalkeeper for the Runnin' Bulldogs, Chauvin has cemented her name in the Gardner-Webb record books, as she is tied for seventh for shutouts in a season (4) and is ninth for lowest goals against average.
Abee was named Honorable Mention All-Conference as she was one of only four players for GWU to appear and start in all 18 games this season, where she recorded one assist. A senior defender, Abee has started in all but one game during her four year career for the Runnin' Bulldogs, and helped to anchor a defensive core for Gardner-Webb this season, that posted a 1.41 GAA, which ranked sixth in the Big South and was the lowest in a season since 2010.
The Runnin' Bulldogs posted a 5-3-2 record on the road which was the most road victories in the Big South this season, and featured a very efficient offensive attack ranking second in the Big South in points (95), third in goals (32) and assists (31).
Gardner-Webb ended the season winning four of its last six games and earned the #5 seed in the Big South Tournament where they will take on the #4 seed Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C. on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
