BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team ( 4-7-1, 1-2-1 BSC) lost 4-0 to Campbell University (3-5-3, 1-1-2 BSC) on Saturday evening at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
Offensively for the Runnin' Bulldogs, Justine Ibarra (Puyallup, Wash. / Puyallup High School) and Jessica Casper (Perkasie, Pa. / Pennridge H.S.) each totaled three shots to lead GWU.
For Campbell, Nicole Connolly paced the Fighting Camels' offense as she had a game-high four shots and three shots on goal.
Alexis Connors earned the victory for Campbell, as she made three saves for her second victory of the season.
Ashley Clark scored the game's first goal for Campbell in the 11th minute, as she fired a shot from the top of the box into the left side of the net, for her second goal of the season.
The remainder of the first half featured chances by both teams, but no team could equalize on the opportunities, as the score remained 1-0 at the halftime break.
The Fighting Camels would strike for three additional goals in the second half, as Clark, Nicole Connolly, and Payton Ormsby all added tallies for Campbell, as they would go on for the 4-0 victory.
Gardner-Webb takes to the road for its next match this upcoming Saturday (Oct. 11) when it travels to Farmville, Va to face Longwood University. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
