ROCK HILL, S.C. – Gardner-Webb sophomore Taylor Dodson finished in a tie for fifth-place overall leading the Runnin' Bulldogs to a sixth-place overall finish at 2014 Winthrop Intercollegiate hosted by Winthrop University at the par 72, 5,900 yards, Rock Hill Country Club in Rock Hill, S.C.

Due to inclement weather throughout the Carolinas all day Saturday the first round of play in the Intercollegiate was completely cancelled shortening the event to just a one-day 18-hole tournament.

Gardner-Webb turned in a score of 341, +53 to finish in sixth-place overall out of the 10 teams participating in Sunday's Intercollegiate.

Dodson paced the Runnin' Bulldogs shooting a round of 81, +9, finishing in a tie for fifth-place overall with two others. That score left Dodson just three strokes off of the winning score of 78, +6, scored by two separate players.

Finishing just behind Dodson was fellow sophomore Courtney Yanch who carded a round 83, +11, for her round Sunday earning a tie for 12th- place overall with nine other individuals.

Sophomore Sarah Bertram finished in solo 31st-place overall shooting a score of 88, +16, while juniors Tessy Tuschen and Mary Katherine Donovan finished one shot off the pace of Bertram tying with each other for 32nd-place overall with rounds of 89, +17.

Appalachian State fought off the bad weather to take home the team championship, as the Mountaineers shot a score of 323, +35, for the tournament.

Madalyn Davis of Appalachian State and Lauren Dunbar of Wofford College co-medaled with each player shooting the tournament low score of 78, +6.

This weekend's rain shortened one round tournament wrapped up the 2014 fall season for the Gardner-Webb women's golf team.
