Toth Breaks Record In 200 Breast On Final Day Of Fall Frenzy Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Freshman Lili Tóth set a new meet record in the 200 breatstroke, as she helped lead the Gardner-Webb University women's swim team to a third place finish at the Wingate Fall Frenzy Invitational, while the men's swim team finished in fifth place. 

Toth set a new meet record in the 200 breaststroke finishing the event with a record-time of 2:17.55, eclipising the old mark by over three seconds (2:17.55), which was set by GWU senior Charity Byrum in 2011. Just a freshman, Toth had a very impressive weekend for GWU, breaking meet records in both the 100 (1:02.69) and 200 breaststrokes and totaling three first-place finishes over the three-day meet. 

The Gardner-Webb women's swim team totaled 999 points, which trailed second-place West Florida by 53.5 points and led the College of Charleston who finished in fourth-place by 134.5 points. The GWU men's swim team finished the weekend in fifth with 772.5 points.

No. 2 ranked Queens University impressed all weekend long on its way to sweeping both the men's and women's championship in the Fall Frenzy Invitational. 

The first event of Sunday's schedule was the longest event of the meet, the 1,650 free and Madie Dinsmore finished the mile swim in 10th place with a time of 17:53.94. Dinsmore swam well in both distance events for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as she also finished 21st in the 500 free (5:12.60). 

Luke Denman placed third for GWU in the first men's event of Sunday's finals, finishing the 1,650 free in 16:07.36. 

Taylor Schwartz and Connor Bos were the top swimmers for the Runnin' Bulldogs in the 200 back finishing with times of 2:06.47 (eighth place) and 1:54.10 (15th) respectively. 

London Schumacher day off with a great swim in the 200 fly, finishing the eight length event in third place (2:07.03), which was her final swam of a great weekend for the freshman. Schumacher swam a total of 10 events over the three- days totally two second place finishes, one third, and a fourth place finish. 

Gardner-Webb will return to competitive in 11 days when it takes 10 swimmers to the USA Swimming Winter Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. on Dec 4-6.
