
Williams Named Big South Women's Basketball Freshman Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Freshman Aunesha Williams has been named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week for the games played Nov. 17-23, announced the conference office Monday.
Williams is the first player to be named Freshman of the Week since Candace Brown earned the award on Jan. 28, 2013.
The freshman forward helped the Runnin' Bulldogs to a record of 2-1 in its three games last week, with victories over Montreat (118-37) and N.C. Central (73-53) and the lone loss coming against Davidson (67-68). Williams scored a career-high 20 points on 8-10 shooting against Montreat, and scored 18 points and hauled down a career-high 7 rebounds in the victory over N.C. Central on Saturday.
Williams has played in all four game for GWU this season, averaging 10.8 points and 4.0 rebounds. Though four games this season, the freshman has been very efficent from the field, hitting 54.5 percent of her field goals on 18-33 shooting.
After playing three out of their first four games at Paul Porter Arena, the Runnin' Bulldogs hit the road for the start of a season-long five-game road trip on Tuesday when they travel to Boone, N.C. to face the Appalachian State Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m.
