BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team finishes a season-long five game road trip on Saturday evening, when it travels to Lynchburg, Va. to face the Liberty Flames.

Last Time Out
The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a 76-60 loss at UNC Greensboro last Friday night. Gardner-Webb played an excellent first half shooting 54.8% (17-31) and 8-10 from the free-throw line, as it would take a 42-34 lead into the locker room The second half was a complete 180 degree turnaround for UNCG. In the second half, the Spartans shot 48.6% from the field, scoring 42 points and hitting five shots from behind the three-point line, compared to the first half when they went 0-9. UNCG played high pressure trapping defense forcing 29 turnovers by GWU, and the Spartans would go on for the 76-60 victory.
Series Notes
This is the 14th meeting between GWU and Liberty since Gardner-Webb transitioned to the Division I level in the 2000-01 season. Liberty leads the series 10-3, and swept the season series with the Runnin' Bulldogs last year. Gardner-Webb has struggled in its recent matchups with Liberty, losing its last six games against the Flames, and has only won one game in the Vines Center in four attempts against LU.
Notes
The Runnin' Bulldogs hold a 52-53 record as a member of the Big South Conference, and have a winning record against three of the 11 members of the conference. Gardner-Webb owns a 13-7 record against UNC Ashevile, which is the most victories over any current member of the Big South.
Scouting Liberty
Liberty enters Saturday's matchup on a three-game win streak and has an overall record of 5-2 on the season and 1-0 in Big South play.
Redshirt junior Karly Buer leads the Flames in scoring with 14.9 points and is first in the conference shooting 88.5% from the free-throw line.
Liberty was picked first in the annual Big South preseason poll for seventh consecutive season and the 17th time in the past 18 seasons.
