BOILING SPRINGS --- Gardner-Webb junior Jerome Hill (Adel, Ga.) has been named the College Sports Madness Big South Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Runnin' Bulldogs to a 74-68 win over Furman Saturday.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound forward turned in one of the best performances of his career on Saturday, leading all scorers with 28 points on 10-of-21 shooting to help the Runnin' Bulldogs avenge last season's loss to the Paladins. Hill added a career-high 19 rebounds to record his team-leading fourth double-double of the season, while also blocking a personal-best four shots.
The two-time College Sports Madness Player of the Week converted a key three-point play late in the second half, capping a 9-3 run that put the game out of reach. Hill currently leads the Runnin' Bulldogs in both scoring (18.9) and rebounding (9.2) this season.
Gardner-Webb is back in action on Wednesday in Jacksonville, Fla., taking on Jacksonville University at 7:00 pm.
