
Women's Basketball Heads To Georgia Saturday To Face Kennesaw State

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. Gardner-Webb heads to Ga. on Saturday to face Kennesaw State at 12:00 p.m. Saturday's game will be the last contest for the Runnin' Bulldogs before Christmas. Saturday's contest between the Runnin' Bulldogs and the Owls will be streamed via espn3.com and fans can listen to all the action on wgwg.org with Jared Pankhurst on the call from press row.
Last Time Out
The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a 68-48 victory on Thursday evening over Tennessee Temple which snapped a three-game losing streak. Aunesha Williams and Kiera Currie each scored 10 points off the bench to pace the GWU offense, and led a group of reserves that outscored Tennessee Temple's bench 44-19. For only the second time this season, the Runnin' Bulldogs did not convert a three-pointer going 0-11 from behind the arc, but continued to get the ball inside to its frontcourt players scoring 56 of their 68 points in the paint, compared to just 18 for TTU.
Series Notes
This is the 11th meeting between GWU and Kennesaw State since Gardner-Webb transitioned to the Division I level in the 2000-01 season. Gardner-Webb leads the series 6-4, and have won the last two matchups against the Owls.
Lucky Number Six
The Runnin' Bulldogs were picked sixth in the 2014-15 Big South women's basketball preseason poll. Gardner-Webb was also picked sixth in the 2008-09 season, and hopes this season will be a repeat of the 08-09 season where they advanced to the conference tournament final and lost by one point (51-50) to Liberty.
3 The Runnin' Bulldogs hold an 18-28 record against schools that are current members of the Atlantic Sun. The Runnin' Bulldogs have faced every current member of the A-Sun except Northern Kentucky, with their best win percentage coming against Kennesaw State with a 6-4 record.
