Hooe and Abee Named To NSCAA All-Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Gardner-Webb women's soccer players Shelby Hooe and Addison Abee have been named to the 2014 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women's University Division Scholar All-South Region teams.
Hooe was named to the NSCAA Second Team All-South Region while Abee was selected to the Honorable Mention All-South team. The honors mark the first time since 2001 that Gardner-Webb has had a student-athlete named to an NSCAA All-Region team.
A chemistry major with a 3.92 cumulative GPA, Hooe adds yet another honor to her impressive resume this fall. The junior midfielder was selected as the Big South Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her dedication in the classroom. For her performances on the field, Hooe garnered First Team All-Big South honors and was selected to the North Carolina Sports Information Assoication first team, as she set career-highs in virtually every offensive category including; goals (8), points (20), shots (45), shots on goal (26) and tied her career-highs with four assists and two-game winners.
A double major in sociology and psychology, Abee sports a 3.89 GPA and was also named Honorable Mention All-Big South. The senior defender was one of four players for the Runnin' Bulldogs to play and start in all 18 games this season, and for her career started in all but one game. Abee helped to anchor a defensive core for Gardner-Webb this season, that posted a 1.41 GAA, which ranked sixth in the Big South and was the lowest in a season since 2010.
The women's soccer duo helped Gardner-Webb to an 8-10-2 record for the season and earn a berth into the Big South Conference Tournament for the first time since 2011.
