
Women's Basketball Takes Road Trip To Virginia To Face Longwood

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Gardner-Webb returns to action after enjoying the Christmas break on Sunday afternoon, when it heads to Farmville, Va. to face the Longwood Lancers at 2:00 p.m.Sunday's matchup will be streamed live on the Big South Network.
Last Time Out
The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a 50-47 loss at Kennesaw State last Saturday (Dec. 20).Despite shooting 36.0% from the field compared to just 31.3% for the Owls, Gardner-Webblost a tight battle against KSU for its last game before the Christmas break. Olivia Parkedled the way for GWU scoring 11 points and hauling down 11 rebounds for her fifth doubledoubleof the season, and the 10th of her career. The Runnin' Bulldogs struggled fromthe free throw line shooting just 7-16, but led KSU for 22:29, but the Owls outscored theRunnin' Bulldogs 12-0 on the fastbreak and outscored GWU in the paint 34-22.
Series Notes
This is the 11th meeting between GWU and Longwood since Gardner-Webb transitioned tothe Division I level in the 2000-01 season. The series is tied 5-5, and both team split the twomeetings last season. Gardner-Webb won 74-73 at Paul Porter Arena, and lost a nailbiter59-57 at Longwood.
Lucky Number Six
The Runnin' Bulldogs were picked sixth in the 2014-15 Big South women's basketball preseasonpoll. Gardner-Webb was also picked sixth in the 2008-09 season, and hopes this seasonwill be a repeat of the 08-09 season where they advanced to the conference tournamentfinal and lost by one point (51-50) to Liberty.

The Runnin' Bulldogs hold a 52-54 record as a member of the Big South Conference. Gardner-Webbowns a 13-7 record against UNC Asheville, which is the most victories the Runnin' Bulldogs own over amember of the Big South Conference.
Gardner-Webb has the unique distinction of having two twins on the team this season. Assistantcoach Dominique Hudson has an identical twin sister, Monique who is a former player for the Runnin'Bulldogs, and freshman Celia Tibbs has a twin brother, Will, who is a freshman at the University of MarylandEastern Shore.
