GREENSBORO, N.C- Olivia Parker scored 15 points hauled down a game-high 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season but the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (3-4) erased an eight point halftime defecit to defeat the Gardner-Webb University women's basketball team (3-5) 76-60 in a non-conference game on Friday evening in Flemng Gymnasium.
The Spartans continued to push the pace all game long outscoring Gardner-Webb 17-12 on fast break points and were able to impose its will on defense forcing 29 turnovers, and converting the GWU turnovers in 33 points.
Jazmine Missouri came off the bench for UNCG and scored 8 points as the Spartans' reserves scored 24 points compared to just 10 from the Runnin' Bulldogs.
After not hitting a single three-pointer in the first half on nine attempts, the Spartans used some great shooting in the second stanza converting 5-7 from long-distance to outscore the Runnin' Bulldogs 42-18 in the second half.
Trailing 26-22 with 6:35 left in the first half, Gardner-Webb used a 20-8 run over the last six minutes of the first half to take a 42-34 lead into the locker room.
Coming out of the halftime intermission, Collins scored eight straight points followed by eight straight points by Savage as UNCG opened the second half on a 15-4 run and outscored the Runnin' Bulldogs by 24 points in the second half as it would go on for the 76-60 victory.
Gardner-Webb takes an eight-day break before it returns to action next Saturday (Dec. 13) when it travels to Lynchburg, Va. to face Liberty at 7:00 p.m.
