BOILING
SPRINGS - The start of the 2014 season will have to wait at least
one more day, as Gardner-Webb's February 14 opener with Penn State
has been postponed due to snowy conditions.
The
Runnin' Bulldogs and Nittany Lions will begin their scheduled
four-game series on Saturday, February 15, with a doubleheader. The
opener will start at 1:00 pm at John Henry Moss Stadium / Bill
Masters Field, with the second game following soon
after.
The
two teams will play a single game on Sunday, beginning at 1:00 pm,
and will wrap up the series on Monday at 1:00 pm.
Gardner-Webb,
which welcomes back its entire weekend rotation from the 2013
season, will likely go with aces Matt
Fraudin (8-5, 2.88 ERA) and Andrew
Barnett (5-3, 3.14 ERA) on Saturday and with southpaw Erik
Heiligenstadt (5-4, 3.58 ERA) on Sunday. Sophomore righty Brad
Haymes (3-1, 3.19 ERA) is expected to get the start on
