
Gardner-Webb Women's Tennis Falls on the Road, 4-3, Against UNC Greensboro

Greensboro, N.C. - Gardner-Webb won the opening doubles point, and got singles wins from Jenny Lunde and Rokia Sacko, but saw UNC Greensboro storm back to win four singles matches for a comeback 4-3 win over the Runnin' Bulldogs on Saturday at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
GWU (5-2) jumped on top early by winning at No.'s 2 and 3 doubles.
At the No. 3 doubles position, freshmen Mary Walker Mixon (Atlanta, Ga.) and Teodora Stanciu (Fót, Hungary) knocked off the Spartans' Alisha Burton/Stephanie Falcon pairing by an 8-3 margin. GWU also won at No. 2 doubles, as Lunde and Sacko outlasted Yasmin Franco/Jamie Grinberg to win by tiebreak 8-7 (7-4) to go up 1-0 entering singles play.
In singles, the Runnin' Bulldogs picked up wins from Lunde at No. 2 singles and Sacko at No. 5 singles, but saw UNCG grab wins at the other four positions.
Lunde (Oslo, Norway) prevailed in her No. 2 singles match against Kayla Gammie by a 6-4, 6-3 score, as she and Sacko maintained their hot starts to the 2014 season. Sacko (Montreal, Canada) scored a comeback 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 5 singles spot, improving her singles record to 7-0 on the year.
Gardner-Webb returns to the court Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 3:00 p.m. for a home match against USC Upstate.
