Belmont, N.C. - Gardner-Webb men's tennis team, playing its
third match in as many days, got back on the winning track thanks
to dominant efforts in both singles and doubles play in a 9-0 win
at Belmont Abbey's Reidy Tennis Center on Monday.
GWU (4-8, 0-2 BSC) swept all three doubles matches as well as
all six singles matches Monday against Belmont Abbey.

Lofrumento won 6-1 at No. 3 doubles to get GWU off to a fast
start while the other two matches were won by 8-6 margins.

Dempsey teamed up with Tyler
Macy to win 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, outlasting Belmont Abbey's
Eduardo Escobar/Damien Nelson pairing, while Benjamin
Kaszás and A.J.
Stillwell battled for an 8-6 triumph against Conner McMann/Juan
Baez.
GWU won each of the six singles matches in straight sets to
finish off the road win.
Kaszás, a sophomore from Budapest, Hungary, earned a 6-3,
6-1 victory over McMann at No. 1 singles.
At the No. 2 spot, Dempsey (Dublin, Ireland) cruised past Baez
by a 6-1, 6-2 margin.
Batalla (Barcelona, Spain) won at No. 3 singles by a score of
6-0, 6-1 playing against Escobar.
At No. 4 singles, Macy (Elkin, N.C.) picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win
over Belmont Abbey's Nelson.
Stillwell, a freshman from Wilmington, N.C., won 6-1, 6-1
against Aaron Mullenix at the No. 5 singles position.
At the No. 6 singles position, Lofrumento, a freshman from Cocoa
Beach, Fla., earned a 6-1, 6-0 win against Jacob Melton.
GWU will look to carry the momentum off Monday's win into a busy
week that includes matches on Thursday versus Wofford (2:30 p.m.)
and on the road Saturday versus Brown.
