Maum was named Big South Conference Men's Golf Freshman of the
Week Thursday, as selected by the league office.
Maum (Chattanooga, Tenn. / Baylor School) recorded a five-stroke victory at the Bash at the Beach (par 71, 6,741 yards), his first individual collegiate tournament title. He carded a 9-under 204 (70-65-69) for the 54-hole event, helping Gardner-Webb to a tie for fourth in the team standings.
Maum shot a career-low 65 over the second 18 holes of the event, and shot a 69 in the final round to pull away from the field. His round of 65 is the lowest for any Runnin' Bulldog golfer so far in 2013-2014.
Gardner-Webb will play its next tournament at the Furman Intercollegiate, March 22-24 in Greenville, S.C.
