
GWU Women's Tennis Outdueled at Liberty, 5-2, In Big South Play on Friday

Lynchburg, Va. - Rokia Sacko picked up her team-leading fifteenth singles win of the year, and Yasmin Doost gave Gardner-Webb a win at No. 1 singles, but Liberty swept doubles play and won at four of the six singles positions to take a 5-2 win in Big South play on Friday at the Hershey Esbenshade Tennis Courts.
GWU (8-8, 1-4 Big South) got great efforts from Sacko (Montreal, Canada) and Doost (Bray, Maidenhead, England), who prevailed in their singles matches in a key League match at Liberty (8-7, 3-1 Big South).
Sacko, a sophomore, improved to 15-1 at No. 5 singles with her win on Friday. Pitted against the Flames' Mariely Hassey, Sacko went to work in the last singles match finish, ultimately coming out on top 6-4, 6-7, 10-3.
Doost, a junior, took the match at No. 1 singles against Liberty's Rebekah Jenkins, winning 5-7, 7-6, 10-7 in the second-to-last match to finish on Friday.
The Flames swept all three doubles positions, winning 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, 8-7 at No. 2 doubles, and 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Liberty also grabbed singles wins at the No. 2, 3, 4, and 6 positions.
Gardner-Webb turns around to play at Longwood (Farmville, Va.) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
