
Rokia Sacko Claims Spot in NCAA Division I ITA Women's Singles Rankings

Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb women's tennis player Rokia Sacko was recently named in the ITA's Women's Singles Rankings, released on March 25.
The rankings post the Top 125 singles players in NCAA Division I. The full list is available at www.itatennis.com.
Sacko, a sophomore from Montreal, Canada, landed in the rankings for the first time in her career when the ITA rankings were released on Tuesday, grabbing #124 in the listing.
This season, Sacko has been a force at the No. 5 singles position, having built a 16-1 record at the time the rankings were made.
On Wednesday (March 26), Sacko won her seventh straight singles match, defeating Ekin Gunaysu by a 6-2, 6-4 margin when the Runnin' Bulldogs hosted #62 Winthrop.
Sacko improved to 17-1 at No. 5 singles this season with the win.
In addition to her stellar performance as a singles player this season, Sacko helped the Runnin' Bulldogs in doubles play, having teamed with Jenny Lunde for a 7-6 record at No. 2 doubles. The pair dropped an 8-7 (8-6) nail-biter versus Winthrop on Wednesday.
Sacko and the Runnin' Bulldogs close out the regular season with a pair of Big South matches at the Webb Tennis Complex. GWU hosts Coastal Carolina on March 30 (2:00 p.m.) before closing out the 2014 regular season at home versus Radford on April 6 (1:00 p.m.).
