
Gardner-Webb Men Finish 12th At Furman Intercollegiate

Freshman Blake Maum fired a 71 in the second round and finished with a final score of 222 to tie for 26th individually. Maum was only two strokes outside the top-20 in a very crowded field. He shot a 75 in the final round to move up six positions.
Vincent Blanchette (75-73-77-225) tied for 51st, Daley Byles (75-74-77-226) tied for 54th, Matthew Yelverton (76-77-76-228) tied for 65th and Clement Kurniawan (77-89-77-243) finished 107th for Gardner-Webb.
Georgie State shot a 9-under 855 for the tournament to tie Virginia Tech for the title. Both teams entered the final day of action tied, and each shot a 287 to finish in the same situation.
A total of 18 teams participated in the event, which was held at Furman University Golf Course.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on April 14-15 at The Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg.
