Gardner-Webb Women Sit Fourth After First Day At Big South Championships

NINETY SIX, S.C. - Julia Henderson fired a 72 Sunday to pace Gardner-Webb, and the Runnin' Bulldogs sit in fourth position after the first day of the 2014 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championships.
Henderson is tied for fifth heading into Monday's second round. Big South Conference All-Freshman selection Taylor Dodson is tied for 21st after carding a 77 on Sunday.
Pilar Morgan (t-23, 78), Sarah Bertram (t-28, 79) and Mary Katherine Donovan (t-28, 79) rounded out the scoring for Gardner-Webb Sunday.
The Runnin' Bulldogs shot 306 as a team, five strokes behind High Point for third place and three strokes in front of Presbyterian.
Campbell leads the rest of the field by 11 strokes after a first-day score of 278. Coastal Carolina also shot a sub-300 as a team Sunday, carding a 297 to sit in second by four strokes.
Tournament play will continue Monday at The Patriot at Grand Harbor course. The average score was 77.2 on Sunday.
