
Gardner-Webb Fifth After Second Round At Big South Golf Championships

NINETY SIX, S.C. - Gardner-Webb finished the second day of the 2014 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championships in fifth position at the Patriot at Grand Harbor.
The Runnin' Bulldogs sit just one stroke out of fourth place behind Presbyterian College. Campbell continued to pull away from the field, shooting a 289 to push its advantage to 27 strokes over the rest of the field.
Coastal Carolina is currently in second place, followed by High Point, Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb.
Julia Henderson (72-76-148) paced Gardner-Webb for the second day in a row, carding a 76 to sit in a tie for sixth position. Henderson finished the front nine at 1-under par on Monday, and moved as high as third in the individual standings at the turn.
Taylor Dodson (77-77-154) moved into a tie for 17th position Monday. Pilar Morgan (78-80-158, T-26th), Mary Katherine Donovan (79-80-159, t-30th) and Sarah Bertram (79-81-160, t-33rd) rounded out Gardner-Webb's scores for the day.
Play proved more difficult for the entire field Tuesday, with the average score up more than one stroke (78.56) from Sunday's opening round. The third hole - a 323-yard par 4 - proved especially difficult, producing 22 bogeys, five double bogeys and only three birdies Monday.
The team's will tee off on Tuesday for the final round.
