
Gardner-Webb Finishes Fourth At 2014 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championships

NINETY SIX, S.C. - Gardner-Webb overcame wet conditions in the final round of competition Tuesday to finish fourth at the 2014 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championships.
The Runnin' Bulldogs carded a 934 over the three-day tournament to finish two strokes in front of Winthrop. Campbell won the event, breaking away from second-place Coastal Carolina by 30 strokes - the fourth-largest margin in tournament history.
High Point finished third, 13 strokes in front of GWU.
Julia Henderson (72-76-80-228) tied for 10th position to pace Gardner-Webb, finishing just outside the All-Conference pack. Sarah Bertram (79-81-75-235) had one of Tuesday's best rounds, as no golfer in the field shot under par over the final 18 holes. Bertram's efforts pulled her into a tie for 22nd individually.
Taylor Dodson (77-77-84-238, t-28th), Mary Katherine Donovan (79-80-79-238, t-28th) and Pilar Morgan (78-80-81-239, t-33rd) rounded out the scoring for Gardner-Webb.
Tuesday's average round was indicative of the course difficulty due to wet weather, with competitors shooting a round of 79.4 on average - the week's highest average.
