Maum Paces GWU To Eighth Place Finish At Big South Championships

Maum led Gardner-Webb to an eighth place finish at the league's
Men's Golf Championship Wednesday afternoon.
Maum (78-68-77-223) and Matt Yelverton (81-70-75-226) each finished in the top-25 individually, with Yelverton tying for 23rd. The Runnin' Bulldogs shot a 304 on Wednesday, finishing nine strokes behind Presbyterian and 34 strokes in front of ninth-place Longwood.
Liberty, the event's host and top seed, won the team title.
In addition to Maum and Yelverton, Daley Byles (77-79-75-231, 33rd), Clement Kurniawan (78-77-79-234, 39th) and Vincent Blanchette (78-84-77-239, t-44th) competed for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Byles and Yelverton had the team's low rounds Wednesday, each carding a 75.
Only three golfers in the field broke 70 in Wednesday's final round.
