June 19, 2014 | Wrestling
MANHEIM, Pa. --- Gardner-Webb is through to the finals of the National Wrestling Coaches Association Best of Brand "Pure Entertainment" competition against top-seeded Drexel after edging third-seeded Stony Brook on Wednesday, announced head coach Daniel Elliott.
The Best of Brand "Pure Entertainment" award category features program's best "non-wrestling" related video which promote their brand in a unique manner. These videos are clever and often humorous as they are used to highlight a program beyond performance and statistics to keep fans engaged. The winner is chosen based on two key elements: a panel of judges assessing video performance and quality in accordance to the award, as well as a social media campaign which concludes with an online voting component. 1
The Runnin' Bulldogs are one of nine finalists in this year's competition, drawing the seventh seed and a matchup with second-seeded Minnesota. Gardner-Webb advanced easily, drawing third-seeded Stony Brook in the semifinal round, which it edged in a late afternoon push. The Runnin' Bulldogs now square off with top-seeded Drexel for the "Pure Entertainment" crown.
Voting opens Thursday afternoon at 12:00 pm, with the program that receives the most votes before 9:00 pm this evening claiming the title.
Fans can vote once every hour up until the 9:00 pm deadline per device (computer, cell phone, tablet, etc.) via the link below. Be sure to check out Gardner-Webb's video submission here.
