Men's Tennis Opens Fall Season At Seahawk Invitational

This weekend's Invitational is a three-day event that will start on Friday and conclude on Sunday. Representatives from seven schools will be competing in four singles draws and three doubles draws.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will look to continue to build off of last season, where they finished with a 12-12 record and earned the number seven seed in the Big South Conference Tournament.
This year's squad will be a very deep and talented team, as six of its 12 members are upper-classman.
Leading returners from last season, include singles leader Brendan Dempsey (Dublin, Ireland / St. Michael's College), and the doubles pairing of Ernest Alberch (Torello, Spain) and Nikita Zverkov (Moscow, Russia).
Dempsey, one of two senior returnees, led the Runnin' Bulldogs with an impressive singles record of 18-6. The 18 singles victories for Dempsey, ranked third in the Big South among all singles leaders.
Albrech and Zverkov were among the top doubles pairing, as they ranked third among doubles leaders in the Big South with a record of 11-5.
At this weekend's invitational, four players will be competing for the Runnin' Bulldogs; juniorBenjamin Kaszas (Budapest, Hungary), redshirt freshman Paul Hogan (Lenoir, N.C.), and freshmen Yaroslav Prostakov (Moscow, Russia, and Michael Perry (Endwell, N.Y.).
Kaszas will be the number three seed in the Flight A Singles Bracket, and will face Daniil Gerasimov (N.C. Central) in his first match, which is scheduled for Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
Prostakov and Hogan will each be competing in the Flight B Singles Bracket, where Prostakov will be the number two seed and will receive a bye into the second round, and Hogan will face Dillon Segur (Liberty) in his first match, Friday at 1:30 p.m..
Perry will be competing in the Flight C Singles Bracket where he will face Tamina Kienka in his first match, Friday at 12:00 p.m.
The doubles pairing of Kaszas and Prostakov will compete in the Flight A doubles bracket, with their first match scheduled for Friday at 9:00 a.m against the second seeded pairing of Sam Williams (UNCW) and Xander Veys (UNCW).
Perry and Hogan will be competing in the Flight B double bracket, where they are scheduled to face Santtu Leskinen (UNCW) and Andres Torres (UNCW) on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m.
