GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team took 12th-place overall at the 2014 Forest Oaks Fall Intercollegiate hosted by UNC Greensboro at the par 72, 6,267 yards, Forest Oaks Country Club in Greesnboro, N.C.
The Gardner-Webb team carded rounds of 314, 308 and 311 to finish with a combined total score of 933, +69.
Sophomore Taylor Dodson led the way for the Runnin' Bulldogs as she turned in rounds of 77, 77 and 75 to finish with a total score of 229, +13 good enough for 27th-place tying with one other over the 54-hole two-day event. Dodson finished the tournament strong carding thirteen pars in the final round of the tournament, posting the fifth-best scoring par-4 scoring average for the final 18 holes of play with a 4.10, +1, average.
Just behind Dodson was junior Mary Katherine Donovan who recorded rounds of 79, 74 and 78 to finish with a total of 231, +15 ending up in a tie for 33rd-place. Donovan led the Runnin' Bulldogs with 7 birdies over the 54-holes of play, rolling in three of those birdies over the final round of play on Tuesday.
The Gardner-Webb team was rounded out by sophomores Sarah Bertram, Courtney Yanch and junior Tessy Tuschen who finished 49th, 51st and 62nd, respectively, as Betram posted rounds of 80, 79 and 77 totatling 236, +20, with Yanch finishing just two shots behind Bertram with rounds of 78, 78 and 82 for a total of 238, +22, while Tuschen compiled rounds 82, 84 and 81 with a combined score of 247, +31.
Elon University took home the team championship, as the Phoenix posted rounds of 296, 301 and 300 to finish with the tournament team low score of 899, +35.
Mercer University's Katy Harris medaled, as she posted rounds of 70, 72 and 73 to card the low score of 215, -1 under par.
The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will return to the course in the coming weeks when they will participate in the Lady Pirate Invitational hosted by East Carolina University at the Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C. October 13-14th.
