Gardner-Webb Rolls To 46-3 Win Over Campbell Thursday Night

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Gardner-Webb rolled to a quick, 46-3 win over Campbell Thursday night in Southern Conference wrestling action, picking up two major decisions and a tech fall in the process.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (4-8, 2-2 SoCon) had the match in the bag with its first individual win, as Campbell forfeited five weight classes.
Kyle Ash (Tulsa, Okla. / Union HS) bounced Daniel Luty via major decision (12-1) for the first win by Gardner-Webb at 157 pounds.
Austin Trott (Kingsland, Ga. / Camden County HS) continued his dominance over SoCon competition, moving to 4-0 in the league with an 18-6 major decision win over Garrison Matthews. The win moved Trott to 19-5 on the season – which includes a 10-2 ledger in dual matches.
Hunter Gamble (McDonough, Ga. / Union Grove HS) cruised to a 26-10 tech fall (5:09) victory at 174 pounds over Monte Britton and Justin Kozera capped the win with a 4-3 decision over Cody Ryba at 285 pounds.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will take a break over the weekend, before traveling to face Appalachian State on Friday, January 30 in another key SoCon match (7:00 pm, Boone, N.C.). GWU will then visit Davidson, N.C., on Super Bowl Sunday (February 1) to take on Davidson College and American University (1:00 pm).
