INDIANAPOLIS – Gardner-Webb had a pair of wrestlers appear in the first listing released by the NCAA Division I Coaches Ranking Panel, with Ryan Mosley and Austin Trott each ranked in the top-30.
Mosley (Lithonia, Ga. / Shiloh HS) earned a No. 26 ranking at 141 pounds from the panel and is off to a sizzling start to the 2014-2015 season. The redshirt sophomore fell just behind Minnesota wrestler Jake Short, and was the top-rated Southern Conference wrestlers in the weight class.
Mosley is the only man to wrestle at 149 pounds for Gardner-Webb this season, and has forged an impressive 19-8 ledger (9-3 dual). He has gone 4-0 so far against Southern Conference competition.
Trott (Kingsland, Ga. / Camden County HS) is included in the rankings for the second season in a row at 165 pounds, and is on track for another run at the NCAA National Championships. The rangy redshirt sophomore is ranked No. 28 by the panel, just off the pace of Princeton's Jonathan Schliefer.
Trott is the lone SoCon representative at 165 pounds in the initial listing. He has been dominant at times this season, getting off to a 19-5 start – which includes a 10-2 ledger in dual matches and a 4-0 SoCon mark that includes three pins.
Trott is tied for fourth nationally with nine pin falls this season, regardless of weight class.
