
Taylor Lillard Named Choice Hotels Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE --- Gardner-Webb junior Taylor Lillard (Victorville, Calif.) was named Choice Hotels Big South Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday after posting 36 kills and a .315 hitting percentage to help lift the Runnin' Bulldogs to wins over Presbyterian and Winthrop last weekend.
Lillard was the focal point of the Runnin' Bulldog attack throughout both matches this weekend, totaling 36 kills on 89 attempts with just eight errors to hit a combined .315. The junior outside hitter opened the weekend with a career-high 19 kills against Presbyterian, including seven in the second set, while also tallying six digs and two blocks.
She followed with an outstanding performance against Winthrop, posting 17 kills and just two errors – both went down as Winthrop blocks – to go along with a .333 hitting percentage, six digs and four blocks. The Victorville, California native currently leads the team with 2.49 kills per set.
Lillard's recognition marks the first time Gardner-Webb has earned a Choice Hotels Big South Player of the Week honor. Senior libero Anna Pashkova (Iowa City, Iowa) was named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week after the opening weekend.
