
Men's Tennis Impresses At College Of Charleston Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C.- Maximilian Scholl defeated reigning Big South freshman of the year, Campbell's Lukas Schaeffer in three sets, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 to highlight a strong performance by the Gardner-Webb men's tennis team last weekend at the College of Charleston Invitational.
This past weekend's event featured numerous flights and saw the Runnin' Bulldogs take home titles in three seperate flights.
Scholl, competing in the top flight for GWU, also recorded victories over Oliver Casey (App State) 6-3, 6-0, and Juan Estevarena (C of C) 6-4, 6-4.
Paul Hogan also put together a 3-0 weekend for the Dogs, picking up victories over Trey Morris (App State) 6-4, 7-5, Louis Monterosso (Campbell) 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 and rounded out his weekend with a win against Garrett Gordon (C of C) 7-6, 6-3.
Benjamin Kaszas also claimed the #3 singles compiling a 2-1 record. Kaszas dropped his opening match to Jack Maddocks (App State) 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, but rebounded with two victories in his final two matches. The senior defeated Gerard Sola (Campbell) in straight sets, 7-6, 7-6, and dropped the first set to Zack Lewis (C of C) 4-6, but rebounded winning the final two sets 6-3, 7-6.
Gardner-Webb returns to action this weekend when it travels to Raleigh, N.C. to compete in the ITA Regionals.
