BUIES CREEK, N.C.- Craig Swaby scored his second goal of the season just 21 seconds into the match, but Campbell scored four unanswered goals, led by Bradley Farias' hat trick to defeat the Gardner-Webb men's soccer team 4-2 in a Big South Conference match on Saturday evening at the Eakes Complex.
Matthew Swan returned from injury to start in net for the Runnin' Bulldogs for the first time since Sept. 19, and recorded seven saves, while Matthew Mozynski recorded four saves to earn his fourth win of the season for Campbell.
Offensively, Campbell outshot the Dogs 22-7 and were led by Farias who had a game-high nine shots, but Gardner-Webb held a 7-4 advantage in corner kick attempts.
Swaby gave the Runnin' Bulldogs the lead notching his second of the season just 21 seconds into the match, when Ali Al-Gashamy chipped the ball over the Camel defense to Swaby, who put it past Mozynski for the lead.
Campbell however would answer back with a goal by Farias in the 13th minute and the sophomore forward notched his second of the evening in the 28th minute and the Camels would hold a 2-1 lead at halftime.
The Camels increased their lead with the third goal of the match in the 61st minute, when Farias crossed the ball into the box to Seth Jones, who scored off the cross.
Farias completed the hat trick in the 82nd minute, but Gardner-Webb would answer right back on a goal by Filipe Conceicao, but Campbell would hold on for the 4-2 victory.
Gardner-Webb will be back on action next Friday (Oct. 23) at 6:00 p.m. when it travels to Radford.
